Japan to provide US$ 440853 for development activities |

Dhaka-- (UNB) – Japan would provide US $ 440,853 (approximately Tk 2.5 crore) to five NGOs of Bangladesh as grant for carrying out their development activities. Kiyokazu Ota, the charge d’ Affaires ad-interim of Japan to Bangladesh signed the contacts with the representatives of the NGOs here yesterday. The recipients are Foundation for Human Development, Central Kachi Kanchar Mela, Rangpur Dianjpur Rural Service, Bangladesh, Gono Kallayan Trust and Grameen Communications. Foundation for Human Development will receive US $91,892 for a flood shelter-cum-gender resource center construction project in Jamalpur district. Central Kachi Kanchar Mela will receive US $ 48,897 for extension of the 2nd and 3rd floors of the children’s center. Rangpur Dinajpur Service will get US $ 75,105 to construct 10 multi-purpose Federation Grain stores in Thakurgaon district. Gono Kallayan Trust will receive US $93,721 for construction of a marketable skill development training center at Saturia in Manikganj district. Grameen Communication will receive US $95,238 to establish an multimedia base educational program software for the public healthcare to the rural people which includes mother and child health care, and training of rural doctors and health workers to create an awareness by the people about infectious diseases through the contents of the software. |
